This passage will see us leaving the beautiful water of Antigua bound for Bermuda.
We will head north for the nearly 1000 nautical mile open ocean passage. The weather conditions will be variable and we could face anything from a hard upwind beat to a pleasant broad reach. We will be leaving the consistent Tradewinds and heading into the Bermuda high, and will have to pay close attention to the weather to determine the optimal route. It should stay warm during the trip but chilly weather is always possible if a cold front comes our way.
This will be a true bluewater passage as we sail nearly a third of the way across the North Atlantic. We will be at sea for roughly a week, which is more than enough time to settle into offshore mode and truly become confident out on the Big Blue. Expect to learn weather routing/navigation offshore and how to determine the optimal sail plan for the conditions, among a myriad of other things. This can be a challenging passage at times, but when we pull into St, Georges Harbour after being out on a serious ocean you will know why generations of sailors have been thankful for Bermuda!
